☆♥*♥☆ 2011~Year of the Rabbit ☆♥*♥☆

by Lorraine Valente

Hi Everyone,

As 2011 quickly approaches, many are happy to leave 2010 behind.  It has been a year full of changes for many. 2010, according to Chinese Astrology, was the Year of the Tiger.  Tigers are strikingly beautiful, like all of the big cats, yet, fierce and dynamic.

The energy for 2011, The Year of the Rabbit, is a welcome change and so different.  Rabbit is considered a most fortunate sign under which to be born as it is said they possess the powers of the Moon.  Rabbit is quick, fleeting, leaping and hopping.  Have you ever tried to catch a rabbit?  Just when you think you've cornered them, because they can sit still as the night, seemingly frozen, they are gone...poof~! It's virtually impossible!

Rabbits are vegetarians.  Cartoon character Bugs Bunny was often seen eating a carrot, and carrots are known to offer protection for the eyes.  Perhaps 2011 will be the year you switch to a vegetarian diet or care for your eyes, as we all must do as a result of close work on computer screens, laptops and cell phones. Rabbits can detect motion from a distance and know how to avoid being seen, ptotecting them from predators.

Rabbits are incredibly sweet animals and make adorable pets.  My daughter and I had one years ago who was so smart, yet also quite timid, she never left my daughter's room.  It was as if there were an invisible shield at her bedroom door, as the bunny never ventured out past that boundary.  When asked to give a presentation in her elementary school class, she chose to discuss "rabbits" and actually brought our bunny into the classroom!  I was fortunate to locate her paper written 12 years ago at age nine (9), the last time we entered the Year of the Rabbit, and will share her insights about rabbit!

Rabbits-The Year of the Rabbit
By Dana Schmidt, February 16, 1999

Rabbits make very cute and fun pets. They don’t take up a lot of space and the get along great with other pets. I have a female rabbit named Dusty. She has her own cage and stays in the extra bedroom. When I open the door to her cage, she hops out onto the slippery floor. It is funny to watch her because sometimes when she runs on the floor she slips and slides on the floor with her nails. She likes to cuddle up on her towel in her cage.

Rabbits usually trust humans and do not have much fear. If you decide to have a rabbit as your pet, you must be friendly to it otherwise it won’t turn out to be friendly and won’t allow you to play with it.

There are many different breeds of rabbits. Some rabbits are wild rabbits and live outside while others live indoors as house pets. Rabbits who live outside usually live in a house called a hutch or sometimes in a cage. A hutch is box shaped and is usually raised off the ground so it does not get wet. Rabbits who live as pets inside the house usually live in cages.

FEEDING

There are many items you must have for your rabbit if they live outside or inside. All rabbits need a water bottle filled with fresh water.. They also need a food dish, food, a small litter box filled with corn cob and maybe a toy. Rabbits front and back nails should be clipped from time to time so it would be good to have a rabbit nail clipper. Some of the food a rabbit eats are dried corn, rabbit pellets, nuts, oats and hay. There are special hayracks you can buy to hold the hay in a rabbits cage. I also feed my rabbit yogart treats made for rabbits which she really likes to eat.

CARING FOR YOUR RABBIT

Rabbits need fresh water and food each day. Every once in awhile you may want to give your rabbit a fresh carrot or some celery, but not too much of it. Their nails should be clipped on a regular basis. They should also have at least 20 minutes of exercise each day out of their cage or a couple of hours if you are able to.

The correct way to hold a rabbit is by holding the extra skin behind its neck in one hand and by holding the bottom or back of the rabbit called the rump, in the other hand.

WILD RABBITS

Wild rabbits live in burrows called warrens. The female rabbit are the ones who dig the warrens. They do this by digging the dirt with their front paws and push the dirt up to the surface with their strong back legs called hock. A baby rabbit is called a kit. Baby rabbits are born blind and bald and it takes several weeks for them to grow some fur and to be able to open their eyes. In the warren there is a separate tunnel for the mother and her kits to stay in. In this tunnel, there is grass and soft fur pinched from the mother’s coat. She uses this fur for her kits to sleep on.

When the mother needs to gather food for her kits, she leaves them in the tunnel and covers them with the fur so enemies will not be able to find them. There have been many litters of baby rabbits living in my yard and I have seen them.

BREEDS OF RABBITS

There are about forty-five different breeds of rabbits. Some of these breeds are: dwarf, angora, checkered giant and the rex. Rabbits can also come in many colors. Some of the colors are: grey, white, orange, black and brown and they can be multi colored or spotted as well.

TEETH

Rabbits teeth tend to grow. When they grow too long they start to curve inward. This could mean that the rabbit didn’t chew on enough crunchy foods and you will have to take it to the veterinarian. To prevent this from happening, you can give your rabbit something hard to chew on such as a tree branch or cardboard. This will help to wear down their teeth and keep them short and healthy.

ANATOMY

Rabbits have chisel-shaped incisor teeth that grow continually. Rabbits and hares have four incisors in the upper jaw and two in the lower jaw. They have very powerful hind legs which they use for jumping. Their forelimbs (their front paws) are used for burrowing. The have long ears and a small, soft, puff-like tail. Rabbits, like rodents, can also squeeze into very small spaces.

POPULAR AND FAMOUS RABBITS

Film

Rabbits are well loved by most people. There have been many famous rabbits over the years. Rabbits have been the topic of books and stories, cartoons, holidays, and in advertising to sell products. I will tell you about some of these rabbits below:

Disney’s first rabbit was called Oswald. Oswald was in the cartoon called Poor Pappa in 1928!. After 26 years of cartoons, Disney lost ownership of him and started to make other rabbit characters.

Bugs Bunny was one of the most famous of all rabbits. He starred in the Looney Tunes cartoons on television. He also appeared in a recent movie called Space Jam. He became so popular that he got his picture on his own stamp and also got his star on The Hollywood Walk of Fame.

In Disney’s movie Bambi, there is a rabbit called Thumper who is Bambi’s friend. Thumper got his name because he would always thump his back leg. In Disney’s Alice In Wonderland, the White Rabbit sung the song about being late which is why Alice found herself in Wonderland. In the Song of the South movie, there was a rabbit called Brer Rabbit. He is very smart in a goofy and funny sort of way. In the story of Winnie the Pooh, there is a character called Rabbit. Pooh and Rabbit ate so much they couldn’t get out of Pooh’s house until they lost weight!

Books

The Tale of Peter Rabbit remains one of the most popular children’s book about a rabbit. This is the tale about a rabbit named Peter and how he goes into Mr. Mc Gregor’s garden with his friend Benjamin Bunny and how they eat all of the vegetables in his garden. Mr. Mc Gregor chases after them but they escape. Peter gets very sick from all the food he ate!

The Velveteen Rabbit was a popular children’s book too. This was the story about a toy rabbit who becomes real because he was loved by the boy who owned him.

Holidays

People celebrate Easter around the world in many different ways. The Iroquois tribe would go hunting and there was a rabbit in front of them. He was the Chief of all rabbits. The rabbit chief would get all the other rabbits together who would dance a special dance to thank the rabbits for their food and their fur.

The Europeans believe that when they see a man’s face in the Moon they often see the face of a rabbit and think that that rabbit is the ruler of all rabbits on Earth.

The Germans think a bird turned into a rabbit by the goddess of spring. This rabbit starts laying eggs since it’s still a bird that looks like a rabbit.

In the United States we celebrate Easter with a visit from the Easter Bunny. The Easter Bunny brings children colorful eggs and chocolate bunnies.

The Chinese named one of their years after the rabbit. This upcoming Chinese New Year on February 19th, 1999 is The Year of the Rabbit! Every twelve years the Year of the Rabbit occurs.

Advertising

Energizer batteries has been using the Energizer Bunny to sell their batteries for many years.

I hope you enjoyed learning all about the rabbit. As you can see, rabbits are not just pets in a pet store or rabbits hopping around in the fields. Rabbits are loved all over the world. I love being able to have my own rabbit to care for. I hope one day you will be able to have a rabbit as a pet too!

☆♥*♥☆ Epiphany~Ritual ☆♥*♥☆

by Lorraine Valente

The 12th day after Christmas, January 6th, is the day of Epiphany. Epiphany occurs only 2 days after the Janurary 4th New Capricorn Moon Solar Eclipse.  An epiphany is a realization, an aha or that inner sense of illumination of a thing or feeling that wasn’t there previously. It's the comprehension of the essence of a thing, as in a discovery. In some cultures it's a time for baking of the King’s cake. It is a celebration for The Three Kings or Three Wise Men. According to an old legend based on a Bible story, these three Kings saw, on the night when Christ was born, a bright star, and followed it to Bethlehem. There  the Christ-child was discovered and he was presented with gold, frankincense, and myrrh.

Epiphany is a time of ritual and celebration. One such ritual is a Burning Bowl Ceremony, also performed during Eclipses. This ceremony provides an opportunity to meditate and reflect on aspects of life, behaviors, thought forms, beliefs and perspectives that are no longer useful and then release them in preparation for entrance into a new cycle.

First prepare your space. Burning sage cleanses the space and your aura. If sage isn't a favorite, simply fan the air around you, opening windows briefly as it's quite cold where many of you reside. Reiki practitioners may send a special "symbol" into each corner of the room. Sprinkling your favorite essential oil (my preference is Lavendar) connects its scent to a memory feeling. Then take a moment to quiet your thoughts, connecting to your heart, Guides, and Angels and write what you are leaving behind; what's being released. Take a deep breath in, then exhale and center again. I'll use tiny pieces of paper or small post-its and write one thought on each slip. After writing want you want to release, place them in a fireproof bowl and allow it to burn. Let them all go. Let them burn, vanishing from your life. Poof~! Gone..up in smoke~!

After you've released what's no longer useful, take a moment to quiet your thoughts and focus on what you want to bring into your life. Take a deep breath in, then exhale, and center. Again, write each of them down on small pieces of paper. Intentions with excited emotion bring them quickly into your life, so get happy~! *smile* Remember a time and place where you felt absolutely amazing, joyful and content. Focus on these feelings as you're writing your intentions. Allow yourself to get caught up in your imagination, thinking of your perfect future. "I want and I will have". These new intentions may be kept either in a space on your altar, a small pouch, bag or in a cup, or any special place. I keep new intentions in a tiny pouch inside my wallet and periodically change them when I've obtained what I want. You may also choose to burn them, sending their energy into the Universe. The choice is yours. Remember to give thanks for all you do have. *I am grateful for....* *Thank you Universe...*

Settled, knowing that outmoded, limiting thoughts and perceptions have been replaced with progressively new, growth-oriented intentions, these new perspectives feel exciting, soothing, comforting and cathartic. Now you feel amazing, grounded, fantastic, wonderful, happy, awesome, and Divinely blessed. New beginnings await you...many blessings...

Please feel free to share your Eclipse and Epiphany rituals with me or if you have friends who perform ceremonies, I'd love to hear about them.

Thank you for being patient with the long over-due updating my my websites, currently in progress. Have a wonderful day!

☆♥*♥☆ The New Year~2011 ☆♥*♥☆

by Lorraine Valente

Dear Stargazers,

Surround Yourself only with people
who are going to lift you Higher!
For the upcoming New Year, I want to share empowering lyrics, words to focus on during the coming months...a mantra or an anthem.  Remember to own your own power.  If what you're hearing doesn't align with your "intuition", pause, reflect then decide and chose another path. You're more powerful than you realize.  Focus only on the positive, associate only with positive people, people who want the best for you, supporting your ideas, dreams and goals....lifting you up Higher.

Firework by Katy Perry

Do you ever feel like a plastic bag
Drifting throught the wind
Wanting to start again

Do you ever feel, feel so paper thin
Like a house of cards
One blow from caving in

Do you ever feel already buried deep
Six feet under scream
But no one seems to hear a thing
Do you know that tehre's still a chance for you
Cause there's a spark in you

You just gotta ignite the light
And let it shine
Just own the night
Like the Fourth of July

Cause baby you're a firework
Come on show 'em what your worth
Make 'em go "Oh, oh, oh!"
As you shoot across the sky-y-y.

Baby you're a firework
Come on let your colors burst
Make 'em go "Oh, oh, oh!"
You're gunna leave 'em fallin' down-own-own

You don't have to feel like a waste of space
You're original, cannot be replaced
If you only knew what the future holds
After a hurricane comes a rainbow

Maybe you're reason why all the doors are closed
So you can open one that leads you to the perfect road

Like a lightning bolt, your heart will blow
And when it's time, you'll know
You just gotta ignite the light

And let it shine
Just own the night
Like the Fourth of July

Cause baby you're a firework
Come on show 'em what your worth
Make 'em go "Oh, oh, oh!"
As you shoot across the sky-y-y

Baby you're a firework
Come on let your colors burst
Make 'em go "Oh, oh, oh!"
You're gunna leave 'em fallin' down-own-own

Boom, boom, boom
Even brighter than the moon, moon, moon
It's always been inside of you, you, you
And now it's time to let it through

Cause baby you're a firework
Come on show 'em what your worth
Make 'em go "Oh, oh, oh!"

Make 'em go "Oh, oh, oh!"
You're gunna leave 'em goin "Oh, oh, oh!"

Boom, boom, boom
Even brighter than the moon, moon, moon
Boom, boom, boom

☆♥*♥☆Capricorn/Cancer~Relationship Axis☆♥*♥☆

by Lorraine Valente

Capricorn/Cancer~Relationship Axis
Ascendant/Descendant Relationship Axis (1st house/7th house)

Knowing your partners 7th house cusp (the relationship house) and the ruler of that house indicates the type of partner you may attract or are attracted to and the method of relating within that relationship.

The Ascendant or Rising sign is the sign rising on the horizon at the time of birth. This is the face we show the world, our “mask” for which our Sun hides behind. This is our outer personality, temperament and disposition as well as how we experienced our early home environment growing up. It is the way others see us and also gives indication of our physical appearance. The ruler of the Ascendant and the aspects (connections to other planets in your birth chart) further delineate and define your physical appearance.

The Descendant, or 7th house cusp, its ruler and the aspects it makes, symbolizes the type of partner you are attracted to. The 7th house is the house of all partnerships including marriage and legal contracts yet also considered the house of open enemies or the Defendant in a law suit.

In relationships, Capricorn has a planetary rulership with karmic Saturn. If you have a Capricorn Ascendant, you appear responsible, mature, controlled, serious, reserved, warm, friendly, physically attractive and determined. Others look to you for advice and seek wisdom in your presence.

With Lunar ruled Cancer on the descendant you seek a home loving, family oriented person, one who will make a good marriage partner. Attraction to a partner with those qualities who is nurturing, good parenting skills, enjoys cooking, easily expresses emotions and feelings and who is financially responsible, is likely. A man with Capricorn on the Ascendant may by physically attracted to the female form, particularly the breasts.

One of the first aspected points to view in the chart of a potential partner, is their Moon placement since the Moon rules your descendant and it's behavioral aspects would manifest and be felt within your relationship with that person.

It is also possible for a Capricorn Ascendant to attract a partner who has Saturn or the Moon prominent in their chart. Prominent Saturn would be in aspect to the Sun, Moon, Mars or Venus or elevated in conjunction to the MC (10th house cusp)or IC (4th house cusp) conjunct or ruling their Ascendant or Descendant or Sun sign in Capricorn.

Knowing the date, time and place of birth is important in making the determination of the Ascendant or Rising sign, the sign rising on the horizon at the time of birth. This cusp sets up all the other house cusps that are the divisions of the houses or areas of life.

☆♥*♥☆ Astrologers Across America ☆♥*♥☆

by Lorraine Valente

Hi All,

Did everyone enjoy their Christmas? Although I definitely "wasn't" dreaming of a white Christmas, we certainly received more than our share of snow in New Jersey!  My daughter and I spent the last 3 days digging ourselves out of almost 3 feet of the white stuff, and there's still more to shovel!  Did I mention that snow isn't one of my favorite expressions of  Mother Nature? :-)

Anyway, Astrologer Ron Archer, created an impressive, time extensive project, and I want to share it with you.  He set out to interview one Astrologer from each State in the United States.  Ron contacted me via e-mail on September 23, 2010 at 12:35pm EDT, asking if I would agree to be interviewed in his "Astrologers Across America" series, as representative for the State of New Jersey! I quickly agreed to his awesome offer. On October 1st, 2010, 1pm, the Cancer Moon trined both Mars and Venus in Scorpio and I was fortunate to be interviewed by Ron.  The results of that interview were recently posted to his informative website Miami Astrology: www.MiamiAstrology.com. I feel priviledged to be included amongst Astrologers such as Maria Kay Simms, Adam Gainsberg, Ray Grasse, Maxine Taylor and others.

To hear the interview between Ron Archer and Lorraine Valente:

I''ll be writing and sharing more about the energy surrounding the New Year, and the upcoming Capricorn New Moon Solar Eclipse on January 4th, yet am frantic catching up on life issues as a result of snow conditions.  Please be patient and also safe while enjoying the rest of your day.

Remember, if you want to learn more about the astrologer of your chart, schedule a phone, or e-mail consultation at Fuchsiastars@aol.com. I'm also available via Skype and on Facebook~FuchsiaStars Guidance, Astrology Share.

☆♥*♥☆ Happy Birthday Capricorn ☆♥*♥☆

by Lorraine Valente

Happy Birthday Capricorn the Sea Goat!
Those born from December 22~ January 21!
Key Phrase for Capricorn is “I Utilize

Capricorn is a Cardinal (action oriented, initiator), earth (pragmatic and grounded) sign located in the Eastern Hemisphere of the chart. Capricorn governs the 10th house of the natural zodiac. Capricorns are considered the workaholics of the zodiac. Saturn-ruled Capricorn expects nothing less from us lest he's willing to do himself. Capricorns are dutiful, reliable, and steady. As children Capricorns were the kids everyone relied upon, the leader offering guidance and wisdom beyond their years. Capricorns are said to be old before their time, wise beyond their years, and very mature. However, they tend to act and appear younger with each passing year, perhaps making up for all that lost time! Capricorn relates to the skin, bones/skeletal system, knees and arthritis…illnesses where inflexibility or rigidity settles in the body.

The ruling planet is restrictive, disciplined and structured Saturn. In traditional astrology, Saturn is considered a malefic planet and tends to operate through fear. Saturn is thrifty, tactful, disciplined, stern, cold and severe. Saturn transits usually entails some form of limitation to the area of life in which the transit occurs. Frustration and hard work is expected from Saturn. If you meet Saturn's challenges and work with his energy, wisdom and benefits are earned resulting from your perseverance. Decisions are made or finalized during Saturn transits. On the positive side, when self-disciplined and self-directed at a task, accomplishment and financial gain is your “Saturnian” reward. If  Saturn is prominant in your chart, you may be drawn to antiques, ruins, ancient times and even collecting old objects of substance and worth.

Saturn~Nasa website
Saturn and  Capricorn reside in the 10th house, at the cusp of  the MC or Medium Coeli. The 10th house is typically linked to structures, real estate, public reputation and work in society, timing, cycles and wisdom earned as a result of difficult tasks. The 10th house, the ruler of the 10th, and planets in the 10th are also symbolic of the mother, traditionally, or often the parent who was most influential in early life. Saturn is a tough teacher and taskmaster. He sets limits, boundaries and obstacles to overcome. Depending on how well we do, he may grant a “reward” or payoff for persevering. In Karmic Astrology, Saturn plays an important role and represents cycles of time. When in a “karmic” relationship, there may experience intense a feelings, a lack of control over the events and circumstances within the relationship. Through these circumstances and events, a new self-awareness develops, a new perspective and understanding of the person involved and also how we relate to the environment. Saturn sometimes present us with someone approximately 7, 14, 21 years older or younger than ourselves. “When the student is ready, the teacher (Saturn) will appear.” Some karmic relationship dynamics are teacher/student, parent/child or counselor/patient. There's something which must be taught, and something that needs to be learned and understood…by both participants. Saturn is considered the glue between individuals and astrologers want to see at least one Saturn contact from each partner connected to a plant in the partner's chart. If one individual provides the important Saturn connections to a partner, while the partner has few or none, that partner may not feel as connected or committed to the relationship as the individual with the majority of Saturn contacts. Saturn contacts in synastry (chart comparison)  usually augurs a lasting and binding relationship, although it may not always be an easy one.

Martin Schulman, in his wonderful Karmic Astrology series states: “Every time our unconscious is working something out, it calls into our lives the people who have within the pieces of the answer we are seeking.” What he means is that you may find that a certain type of person or situation repeatedly enters your life. Just as you end a relationship with one person with a particular problem, another enters your life, often disguised, with a similar problem! (that is if you haven’t worked through and learned your lesson from before) Sometimes the Universe offers this situation or person as a “test” to see how much you have learned from your last similar experience. Or…you may consequentively meet several people with the same Sun, Moon or similar aspects. There is something the Universe is pointing towards and you must pay attention to what is being presented as an important learning experience. This is Saturn~ the wise teacher and why others often consult Capricorn’s for their cut to the chase advice.

Capricorn’s polar opposite (10th house~public reputation, real estate, business affairs, power, credit, profession and the Mother) is cardinal, water Cancer (4th house~ home, family, children, the past and root in early childhood). Career versus home, working and family are issues frequently in conflict for Capricorns, also contingent upon other areas of the birth chart. When under stress, each sign operates through the most negative characteristics of their polar opposite, the sign 180 degrees opposite itself. In this case, when under stress, Capricorn adopts characterisitics of emotional Cancer, ruled by the Moon and may become emotionally distraught, moody and temperamental, withdrawing, crawling into its shell for self-nurturing, distance and comfort.

During Saturn transits or if Saturn is prominent in your chart, you may experience restrictions, boundary issues, and extra responsibilities. Hard work and a busy routine is certainly on the horizon.

Famous Capricorns: Happy Birthday to Rudyard Kipling, British Nobel Prize-winning Poet, December 30th, Henri Matisse, French Painter, and Actor Anthony Hopkins December 31st, American Flag Seamstress Betsy Ross, January 1st, Sir Isaac Newton, British Mathematician, January 4th, Alvin Ailey, NY Dance Company founder, January 5th, Astrologer/Astronomer Johannes Kepler, January 6th, Singers/Performers Elvis Presley and David Bowie, January 8th and Howard Stern, Radio Personality, January 12th.

☆♥*♥☆ Planetary Capricorn ☆♥*♥☆

by Lorraine Valente

Hi Everyone....

If you have your…

Ascendant in Capricorn: Capricorn rising maintains a serious outer mask. Cautious to commit and spend, you possess a strong personality and self esteem. Capricorn rising folks have difficult y showing or expressing feelings. With Saturn as your ruling planet, you may at times be aloof and pessimistic or ambitious, disciplined and determined.  Old when young, and young when old clearly defines how others see you.  Stunning physical appearance, particularly the facial features~!

Moon in Capricorn: Moon in Capricorn is alert, cautious, determined, and also patient in love. You may be emotionally attracted to someone older or more mature. Known for their dry sense of humor. Sometimes this placement appears unemotional and undemonstrative because it’s difficult to reveal feelings thereby appearing cold.  Self-reliant yet fearful of abandonment.

Mercury in Capricorn: You are methodical, logical, rational, practical and dependable.  When Mercury in Capricorn speaks, others listen as you project an air of authority. May appear serious, detailed and, again, demonstrating a dry sense of humor.

Venus in Capricorn: Cautious in love, desires a partner they value. Naturally monogamous, this is the placement of one who values loyalty and faithfulness. May be possessive. Sometimes fearing rejection, this Venus may turn completely cold.Values creature comforts and material security and desires to provide the same for their loved ones.

Mars in Capricorn: Mars in this sign is energetic and hardy. This sign takes command and likes to maintain a sense of control. Obstinate yet passionate and "hot", and distant, yet sexy and romantic. May attract an older, wiser or mature mate and at least once in their life, maintain a "secret" love affair.

If you want to learn more about this topic and others, schedule a phone, or e-mail consultation at Fuchsiastars@aol.com. I'm also available via Skype and Facebook.

The Devil Card in the Rider Waite Tarot deck dipicts a horned, bat-winged, goat-like, half man, half beast figure, who doesn't actually exist. Psychologically, he represents the Id or the the raunchy aspects of the unconscious.  The Devil also symbolizes feelings when in an addictive relationship. Feelings of being completely bonded to a person in an almost obsessive way are possible. Obsessions cause feelings of being tied down or stifled by the intensity of the energy, almost as if it is against the will. Possibility of merging with a person on a deep level, losing independence and allowing the self to be controlled and enslaved to addictive feelings of sexual love.

When love patterns become addictive, becomming caught up in appearances and the physical part of the relationship is high. We begin to limit ourselves, choosing to stay in the dark (denial) about other areas of the relationship. Neglecting or denying what's valued, only serves to increase negative feelings. Without passionate energy and an intense connection, fear and doubt is possible. The Devil asks "What is the Truth?"

On a mundane level, The Devil symbolizes obsession with materialism. He is the "shadow". You may feel bound, controlled and owned by acquired possessions or fearful of not having enough. We “are” what we own or without those things we are no one. Possessions and ownership reflect inner insecurities, if that is all that brings happiness. This doesn’t always have to be a physical object, it can be a thought or a belief that keeps one stuck or self confined in self-destructive patterns, self-sabotaging happiness.

The Devil is card fifteen in the Tarot. When adding 1 + 5 = 6. The number 6 Tarot card is The Lovers card, #6. The symbolism in both cards is contained within each other in that the energy of the Devil is the shadow side of The Lovers. Every individual, even the spiritually evolved, possess dark or negative (shadow) aspects of the personality that may periodically surface. When we are not in love, we are in fear. The Devil suggests facing unrealistic fears that bind and chain us to unhealthy emotional and psychological patterns. In the Lovers, we are asked to seek our Higher Power, and the Archangel provides infinite guidance to those who seek the spiritual path of unconditional love.

The Devil may appear in a reading during a time to focus on ridding obsessions over people, situations and material possessions that control your life. Facing fears, compulsions and bondage to materialism is underscored. If surrounded by positive cards, a commitment is on the horizon.

Keywords: Illusion, Obsessions, Compulsions, Addictions, Bondage, Commitment, Truth, Unconscious, Eroticism, Greed, Materialism, Gluttony, Self-sabotage, The Shadow, the Id, Denial, Self-deception, Reality, Pan.

☆♥*♥☆ Earth Renewal Moon ☆♥*♥☆

by Lorraine Valente

Earth Renewal Moon (Snow Goose)

Gemini Lunar Eclipse~12/21/10
New Jersey
In Native American Astrology, those born from December 22nd~January 19th are born under the Earth Renewal Moon and their animal totem is the Snow Goose. Their color is white and quartz is their totem in the mineral kingdom. Quartz is a fairly hard mineral and comes in a variety of smoky pastel colors. Quartz is a power stone and has the ability to transmit and receive energy through it. Similiar to quartz, the Snow Goose has the ability to transmit and receive great powers to and from the Universe. They have the ability to see clearly as long as they don't become too hard and attached in their views or philosophies.

Geese inspire protection.  They have no problem defending themselves against a predator twice their size when they feel threatened!  The expression "Goose Bumps" is (unfortunately) the way their skin appears when feathers are plucked.  Many fearful people experience goose bumps when they are afraid.  Sometimes goose bumps form when experiencing an intuitive knowing or psychic awareness.

If you've ever seen Snow Geese flying overhead, they form a V shape with the adult female as lead goose. Each goose helps to break the air by those who follow. They make quite an impression with their “honking” and flight precision.

Our greatest pretenses are built up not to hide the evil and the ugly in us, but our emptiness. The hardest thing to hide is something that is not there. ~ Eric Hoffer, 1902-1983

☆♥*♥☆ Eclipse Ritual ☆♥*♥☆

By Lorraine Valente

With the upcoming Lunar Eclipse in the last degree of Gemini, I want to share ritual I often use during various Moon cycles. One such ritual is a Burning Bowl Ceremony. This ceremony provides an opportunity to meditate and reflect on aspects of life, behaviors, thought forms, beliefs and perspectives that are no longer useful and then release them in preparation and entrance into a new cycle.

First prepare your space. Burning sage cleanses the space and your aura. Reiki practitioners may send a special "symbol" into each corner of the room. Sprinkling your favorite flower essence connects its scent to a memory.  Then take a moment to quiet your thoughts, connecting to your heart, Guides and Angels and write what you are leaving behind; what's being released.

These new intentions may be kept either in a space on your altar, a small pouch, bag or in a cup.  You may also choose to burn them, sending their energy into the Universe.  The choice is yours.  Remember to give thanks for all you do have.

Settled in knowing outmoded, limiting thoughts have been replaced with progressively new, growth-oriented intentions, these new perspectives feel exciting, soothing, comforting and cathartic.  Now you feel amazing, fantastic, wonderful, happy, awesome, and Divinely blessed.

My special kitty wishes everyone a Very Merry Christmas Eve and Christmas Day to those who celebrate.

☆♥*♥☆ Winter Solstice~Yule~Lunar Eclipse ☆♥*♥☆

by Lorraine Valente

Dear MoonGazers,

There's so much frustrated energy building in the cosmos. On December 5th we experienced a New Moon at 13+ degrees Sagittarius. On the same day, Uranus turned direct, causing a bit of a stir. For those born around December 12, 13, 14, that New Moon degree would have been triggered.

December 21 is the Winter Solstice and by mid afternoon, here on the East Coast, a Full Moon Total Lunar Eclipse marks the Sun's entrance into Capricorn. Capricorn's cardinal energy is dynamic. It signifies action, initiative, activity and leadership ability. Cardinal folks are the ones who create new projects, start new businesses, experience many physical moves, and always initiating something. This coming Tuesday, December 21st, the Full Moon Total Lunar Eclipse takes place at the last degree of Gemini, 29+ degrees conjunct Hades, also at 29+ Gemini.  The 29th degree is considered an "ending" of sorts. Individuals with ending degrees, the 29th degree, tend to hold onto things signified by the 29th degree planet. Individuals born between June 20-23, as well as individuals with these degrees (28, 29, 00, 01) in their chart will feel the effects of this Eclipse's energy most, particularly as it triggers the Aries point~00 Aries, by square.

Mercury is transiting retrograde at 26+ degrees Sagittarius, conjunct the Galactic Center, moving backwards, away from the Sun opposite Moon/Hades.  The Hades glyph is that of the Crescent Moon with the Cross of Matter.

Hades Keywords: Breakthroughs, Breakdown, Re-birthing, Spiritual, Mental, or Emotional aha's, Mutilation, Dust, Soil, Dirt, Filth, Underground, Depth, Delving, Toxicity and Poisons, Root Cause, Chronic, deteriorating Diseases, Meditation, Trauma, Scientists, Archeologists, Psychotherapists, Healers, and Undertakers.  "Ashes to Ashes, Dust to Dust".

The December 21 Full Moon Eclipse will be the first Total Lunar Eclipse in nearly 3 years, the last being on February 20, 2008. The length of the Eclipse is 72 minutes, every minute, correlates to a year.  The December 21 Eclipse is part of Saros Cycle, 13 North, which includes the January 4, 2011 Solar Eclipse 14 Capricorn, according to Bernadette Brady's Eagle and the Lark. A Lunar Eclipse affects us on a deep, emotional level, generally over the upcoming 6 -9 months. Pay attention to themes, people, and events that may enter your life a few weeks prior and during this time.  Remember to look back just about 19 years ago for similar themes.  What were they and how do those past events and themes relate to what's happening in your life now?

Five months earlier, on the 21st of July, Saturn re-entered Venus-ruled Libra and hovers there until October, 2012. Saturn rules structure, karma, teaching, and one's career (to name a few) and positioned in Libra, focuses energy in the area of relationships. Saturn-ruled Capricorn has much to reconsider, especially during retrograde Mercury. Many relationships are being tested, restructured or have end while others will start anew. The January 4th Solar Eclipse, is Saturn-ruled.

During this holiday season, be mindful of your own and others actions. Dramatic events have been and will continue to appear in the news. We're undergoing a tremendous amount of change deep within the collective psyche as well as deep within the Earth. Visualize, in your mind's eye, what most brings happiness to your life. Hold a picture of our beautiful oceans filled with glorious sea life, dolphins smiling and playfully gliding along in their pods. Focus a small portion of your thoughts to healing our Planet. Mother Nature feels distress. She needs to feel some positive healing energy and support because she's been grossly neglected. Practice patience, tolerance, forgiveness, gratitude, and acceptance during your days. Take your vitamins, exercise, smile, kiss your children, lover, cat and/or dog, look within, and enjoy plenty of rest.
