☆♥☆ Year of the Horse 2014 ☆♥☆

According to the Chinese Zodiac, 2014 is the Year of the Horse which begins on Jan. 31, 2014 and lasts through Feb. 18, 2015.

This powerful New Year is filled with so much movement. First, it is preceded by today's Crisis New Moon at 11 degrees Aquarius. Second, Mercury enters the mutable (changeable) sign of Pisces.  At 3:49pm Eastern Daylight in the United States, Venus, planet of love, beauty, values, earnings, talent and potentialities, stations direct after her backward journey which began December 31, 2013 at 28+ degrees of Capricorn, moving forward at 13 degrees in the sign of the Goat. Venus has been smoldering since her hook-up with Pluto opposing Jupiter in Cancer.

Horse Personality

Positively, people born in the year of the horse are entertaining, playful, animated, active and energetic. Horses enjoy being the center of attention and usually attract an audience wherever they are. Freedom-loving, clever horse people also tend towards a wonderful sense of humor which they use freely to entertain the masses, or their intimate circle of friends. When I visited New Orleans for the UAC conference, horse drawn carriages lined Jackson Square, a lovely, quaint park attracting readers of all kinds at dusk.  I remembered that horses like sugar and saved a bagful of confectionary sugar from Cafe' du Monde to feed them.  In addition to sugary, sweet goodies, horses are grazing vegetarians!

Negatively, Horse people can be extremely impatient, arrogant, wild, and hot headed!  Temper, temper!  It's okay when they horse around with you yet when the wheels turn, horse doesn't want you horsing around with them! Warm by nature, Horse is a wonderful companion animal...and well, is there an animal sexier than a Horse?

Horse people, you are strutting your stuff this year!

"Hey I heard you are a wild one.... I heard you like the wild ones...
I am a wild one, break me in,
Saddle me up and let's begin.
I am a wild one, tame me now.
Running with wolves and I'm on the prowl."

~ Wild Ones - Flo Rida
Horse History

According to D. J. Conway's Animal Magick, "The Muslims call the horse a "god-sent" animal, believing it can prophesy, foresee danger, and see the dead. Among the Norse and Northern Germans, the horse was sacred to Odin" and ancient Swedish Kings were torn apart in sacrifice by the horse-masked priestess of Freya, who was said to be able to transform herself into a mare. Freya was also guardian and protector of cats who are frequently seen living in horse stables and barns.

Horse transformed humanity when it was domesticated and became a vehicle for movement and long distant travel. Symbolically, Horse allows us to "journey" thereby expanding awareness and perception.

☆♥☆2014 Epiphany and a Burning Bowl☆♥☆

The 12th day after Christmas, January 6th, is the day of Epiphany. This year, Epiphany occurs 5 days after the January 1st, New Year  Crisis New Moon at 10 Capricorn 57' (11 degrees).  A New Moon is the dark of the Moon, it cannot yet be seen in the sky.  It is a time to rest, wait, ruminate, and visualize that which you desire to materialize in the future, on a Full Moon.

This Epiphany chart contains 4 planets in Capricorn: Pluto, Sun, Mercury and a retrograde Venus with Mercury out-of-bounds (OOB).  Mars in Venus-ruled Libra squares the Sun and opposes Uranus in Aries, offering a lot of Cardinal energy. Cardinal energy is action oriented, self directed, perhaps haphazard at times, making mundane news headlines on a daily basis.

!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

An epiphany is a realization, an "aha" moment or an inner sense of illumination of a thing or feeling that was not previously felt or known. It is the comprehension of the essence of a thing, as in a discovery.  In some cultures it is a time for baking of the King’s cake. It is a celebration for The Three Kings or Three Wise Men's visit to baby Jesus. According to an old legend based on a Bible story, these three Kings saw, on the night when Christ was born, a bright star, and followed it to Bethlehem. There the Christ-child was discovered and he was presented with gold, frankincense, and myrrh.
Epiphany is a time of ritual and celebration. One such ritual is a Burning Bowl Ceremony, also performed during Eclipses and New Moons. This ceremony provides an opportunity to meditate and reflect on aspects of life, behavior patterns, thought forms, beliefs and perspectives that are no longer useful or serve ones higher good.  They are released in preparation for entrance into a new cycle.

Starting your Epiphany ritual, it is important to prepare your space. Burning sage cleanses negative energy and also your aura. If sage isn't a favorite, simply fan the air around your body and space, opening windows briefly as it's quite cold where many people live this time of the year.

Reiki practitioners may send a special "symbol" into each corner of the room. Sprinkling your favorite essential oil (my preference is Lavender) connects its scent to a memory feeling. Then take a moment to quiet your mind, your thoughts, connecting to your heart, Guides, and Angels, and physically write down what you are leaving behind; what needs to be released. Feelings may surface when you're letting go of something or someone you have held onto for too long.  Let it go. Take a deep breath in, then exhale and center again. It is easy to use tiny pieces of paper or small post-it notes and write one thought on each slip or note. After writing want you want to release, place them in a fireproof bowl, possibly an abalone shell or brass urn, and allow it to burn. Let them all go. Let them burn, vanishing from your life. Poof~! Gone, up in smoke~!
After you have released what is no longer useful, take a moment to quiet your thoughts again and focus on what you want to bring into your life. Do you want to create  a new career?  A new relationship?  Peace?  Take a deep breath in, then exhale, and center. Once again, write each desire on small pieces of paper.

Intentions with excited emotion bring them quickly into your life, so get happy~! *smile* Remember a time and place where you felt absolutely amazing, joyful and content. Focus on these feelings as you're writing your intentions. Allow yourself to get caught up in your imagination, thinking of your perfect future.

 "I want and I have".

These new intentions may be kept either in a space on your altar, a small pouch, bag or in a cup, or any special place. I keep new intentions in a tiny pouch inside my wallet and periodically change them when those intentions have been obtained . You may also choose to burn them, sending their energy into the Universe. The choice is yours. Remember to give thanks for all you do have.
*I am grateful for....* *Thank you Universe...*

Settled, knowing that outmoded, limiting thoughts and perceptions have been replaced with progressively new, growth-oriented intentions, these new perspectives feel exciting, soothing, comforting, and cathartic. Now you feel amazing, grounded, fantastic, wonderful, happy, awesome, and Divinely blessed. New beginnings await you...many blessings...

Let there be  Peace on Earth....
