☆♥*♥☆ Lizard Wisdom ☆♥*♥☆

by Lorraine Valente

My friend Trish wants to know the symbolism of Lizard.

Granite Night Lizard

Lizards are basically "Earth" creatures yet many are very good swimmers. The love basking in the sunlight as they are cold-blooded reptiles. A lizard's keen sense of vibrations from the ground, excellent hearing, and sharp eyesight enables them to detect the slightest movement. One fascinating ability lizards have, is being able to break off their tails to escape predators. As their tail is writhing, it distracts the predator so the lizard can make its escape! Unfortunately, a lizard can only do this once because the tail grows back cartilage instead of vertebrae. :-)

Common Garden Lizard

In myth, Lizard is associated with dreaming. Dreams awaken our unconscious mind and make us aware of issues we haven't been ready to face in our conscious lives. The Romans depicted lizard in art as symbols of death and re-birth. Egyptians considered lizard to signify wisdom and good fortune and sometimes fed them as pets keeping them under their house.  They were accepted as omens of good luck and happiness. Europeans believe that if a lizard crossed the bride's path on the way to being married she would never be happy!  Lizards are also often used in "love charms".

Lizard appears when we need to analyze your present reality and brings the message for immediate change in some area or areas of life. This change can represent letting go of old ideas or negative behaviors which endanger our growth. There is a need to become objectively detached in some area of life. Lizard asks you to pay attention to your dreams, perhaps even creating a dream journal.  It is through our dreams that we may manifest our reality.

☆♥*♥☆Turtle Wisdom ☆♥*♥☆

by Lorraine Valente

Hi Everyone,

The weather is absolutely beautiful here in sunny New Jersey, as it has been throughout the Labor Day weekend.  I hope everyone had a restful or fun weekend.  This morning, a few hours after our New Virgo Moon, Venus, planet of love, desire and attraction, entered passionate Scorpio. When a planet changes signs, particularly on a New or Full Moon, it ushers in energy and encourages a cosmic shift in awareness.  I pay close attention to people, places, and things that come into my life during this time.

Today, quite unexpectedly, via peripheral vision, I noticed something stirring in the woods where I feed a colony of stray cats.  At first I thought it was perhaps a squirrel rummaging and scurrying for food and paid no mind to the rustling wind-blown leaves.  Upon closer examination though, there was a large turtle or tortoise sitting in the pet food dish with a large portion of, what appeared to be, a pepper dangling from its mouth-beak!  I looked at him and he at me and I exclaimed, "Wow, a turtle!" out load, then, "I wish I had my camera, I'll retrieve my phone in the car", in my minds voice.  During this brief encounter and having acknowledged his presence, the turtle, who did what turtles do, was evidently startled by my intrusion, dropped the food, and scurried off into the leaves where (s)he stood motionless. I ran for my phone and snapped one photo, here for you, before he shuffled along his way.

I later recalled discussing "Turtle" symbolism with an online friend who adopted a turtle found a few years ago.  Turtle is symbolic of Earth Mother because she carries her shell~house on her back.  Native Americans believe Turtle personifies goddess energy and cycles of give and take. She traverses both land and water which represent the turtle's two homes. She teaches how to protect yourself and set healthy boundaries as well as speaking up if you are attacked.   The Hindus consider turtle or tortoise a lunar creature.  The Chinese believed the turtle to support the World. Turtle was companion of Venus/Aphrodite and Mercury/Hera and Nigerians say turtle represents the female sex organs.

According to Medicine Cards (Sams and Carson, 1999), turtle moves along at its own pace, in its own season.  When provided the opportunity, turtle says "all good things in time" and "patience is a virtue".  Joy and abundance will follow.

☆♥*♥☆The Hermit~Virgo ☆♥*♥☆

by Lorraine Valente

Tarot Card # 9~The Hermit~Symbolic of Virgo.

The Hermit represents a person who is a teacher of the true meaning of life and is also on a spiritual path. The Hermit stands alone and is isolated. He is cloaked in a gray (wisdom) robe, head down, eyes closed, looking within. He holds an illuminated lamp in his right hand held out and up to the sky, as if guiding him on a path. The light inside of the lamp is in the shape of a star. In his left hand, a golden staff is held representing intelligence. The Hermit lights the way for others who have lost their way. When this card appears in a reading, perhaps we need to shed light on a situation in order to heal. Since light casts shadows, it also encourages us to deal with contradictions within, including those of the shadow self. Virgo assimilates spiritual knowledge including the desire to serve.

When this card appears in a reading, critical thinking is blended with intuition. Good advice and pure intentions are indicated. You must persevere to achieve a particular goal.  Look within for guidance. Introspection, attainment and realizing your purpose is possible.

Negatively, the appearance of The Hermit may imply you are being overly critical, obsessed with details and disorganized. There is a need to organize your thoughts and defer to a Higher Power.

☆♥*♥☆Firefly~Lightening Bug ☆♥*♥☆

The firefly or lightening bug is abundant during the warm summer evenings. Fireflies are fascinating creatures that light up our nights and bring a sense of magic, wonder, and mystery to our environment. As dusk unfolds, little glimmers of light waltz on the darkened canvas. Significant flickers of light bestow guidance while their energy illuminates and inspires creativity. The firefly primarily uses its light in mating ceremonies, and it is quite elaborate an intricate. Light signals are precise and exactly timed in order to attract the right mate. This is a symbolic message that if we are to attract important people, places and things in our lives, we must know what we want, plan accordingly, lay down the groundwork, and be persistent and focused in our ideals.

When firefly appears, it's time to connect the dots and write down your ideas and thoughts. Flashes of inspiration are possible. Catch them if you can! Spiritual gifts are presenting themselves. It is time to trust rhythms, patterns, and synchronous events.

Fireflies remind us that like attracts like. Whatever energy we put out into the Universe, is returned to us. The possibility of attracting "the one", your Soul Mate is pronounced. Flickering messages of Light inspire hope.

Namaste'
