☆♥*♥☆ Happy Birthday Scorpio♏ ☆♥*♥☆

Happy Birthday Scorpio the Scorpion!
Those born from October 23~November 22!
Key Phrase for Scorpio is “I Desire

Scorpio♏ abhors phoniness usually detects a lie even before the spoken word is uttered. You are honest, loyal and perceptive. Scorpio Rising (Ascendant) individuals often have angular facial features and are easily recognized by their piercing eyes. The expression “the eyes are window of the soul” may, very well be the hallmark of a person with planets in the sign of Scorpio…yet with a twist. You might say that Scorpio Rising people have the unique ability to see into the "soul" of others with sharp, penetrating gaze and possess an acute perceptual awareness.  You will never will a staring contast with a Scorpio!

Scorpio’s polar opposite (8th house~sexuality, taxes, values of others, others finances, inheritances, death and endings) is the fixed, earth sign Taurus (2nd house~values, finances, aesthetics, issues around personal security). The integration of my values and finances versus others values and finances in addition to security issues are Scorpio's concerns, also contingent upon other aspects in the natal. When under stress each sign may engage the most negative characteristics of their polar opposite, the sign 180 degrees opposite itself. When under stress, Scorpio may manifest the negative qualities of fixed, earthy Taurus, ruled by Venus♀. Some of those qualities would be the unique stubbornness, inflexibility, and fixity of the Bull; temper tantrums and sulking, another option.

Icy Pluto rules Scorpio♏. Some astrologers still utilize Mars as Scorpio’s ruler. I tend to look first towards Pluto then towards Mars since Pluto is actually considered the higher octave of Mars in traditional astrology. They are often associated with the 1st and 2nd chakras where instincts and survival issues are centered; 8th house versus 2nd house issues. I will venture a guess that a Scorpio may have “invented” the concept of “Soul Mates”. :-)

Obsessions, compulsions, addictions, and uncontrollable passions all fall under Pluto’s realm. If your Pluto♇ makes an aspect to a partner’s Venus or Mars…sparks fly. Astrologer Linda Goodman in her book, Relationship Signs writes “Venus/Pluto contacts indicate a “Soul Mate” relationship. There is an indisputable karmic tie between people with this combination and it’s a powerful one. Even when there are disagreements….it is next to impossible to separate the two permanently. Anyone who tries to come between you will not succeed”. Pluto has strength, perseverance, and staying power. He definitely doesn't give up yet will take his own sweet time teaching or learning a lesson.   Pluto♇ is associated with sexual alchemy, intensity, control, passion, and change. Complete transformation may result.
Scorpio Careers: Sex Therapist, Psychologist, Mortician, Estate Planner, Surgeon, Detective, Forensics, Researcher, Investigator, Teacher, Trash Collectors, Data Mining and Security Technicians.

☆♥*♥☆ Full Moon Squares Hygeia ☆♥*♥☆

Hi All,

Today we experience a Full Moon in the sign of Aquarius.  Asteroid Hygeia at 21 Scorpio squares (tension) the Full Moon.  Scorpio is ruled by both Mars (ancient ruler) and Pluto (modern ruler) who oppose each other in the sky during the Full Moon.  Oppositions require integration, awareness of opposing forces, and the need to compromise. 21 degrees is a "critical" degree.  Critical = Crisis = opportunity.  I will expand upon the symbolism of the Hygeia ~ Full Moon in upcoming days.

(c) 2011 Lorraine Valente
Hygeia is an asteroid and is the fourth largest object in the Asteroid Belt. It was discovered by Annibale de Gasparis on April 12, 1849 in Naples, Italy and was the first of his nine asteroid discoveries.  The glyph of Hygeia resembles the caduceus or Rod of Hermes (a staff entwined by two snakes) which is also the well known symbol of the American Medical Association (AMA).

Astrologically speaking, Hygeia represents one's thought patterns and attitudes concerning health, the healing arts, and fitness awareness. Hygeia also rules recurrent illnesses, sanitation and the valuable role cleanliness, hygiene, and diet play in health maintenance. Her significance appears by transit to a major angle when an individual is experiencing a health issue and signifies, by sign and house (the area of life) the actual problem. She may also indicate a time when the study of healing techniques is prominant.

For instance, today, Hygeia is transiting 21 degrees Scorpio squaring the Full Aquarius Moon at 20+ AquariusPluto ruled-Scorpio is intense, sexual, secretive, psychological, fearless, obsessive, and passionate.  It rules the sexual organs, formulation of cysts, boils, and tumors. Scorpio has the ability to regenerate, transform, and recover quickly from illness yet under some circumstances, becuase it is a fixed sign, may stubbornly adhere to old patterns, both psychologically and within the mindbody.

8/13: Full Moon 20 Aquarius♒ 41', kind hearted, humanitarian Full Moon, however, the level of intensity of aspects on the day beg otherwise. Hygeia 21 Scorpio squares the Full Moon, signifying the need to heal Gaia, Earth Mother.

☆♥*♥☆ Taurus/Scorpio Relationships☆♥*♥☆

The Taurus/♉Scorpio♏ Relationship Axis

Ascendant/Descendant (1st house/7th house)

Knowing your partners 7th house cusp (the relationship house) and the ruler of that house will indicate the type of partner you may attract or are attracted to and the method of relating within a relationship.

The Ascendant, or Rising sign, is the sign rising on the horizon at the time of birth. This is the face we show the world, the “mask” for which our Sun hides behind. This is the outer personality, temperament and disposition as well as how we experienced our early home environment growing up. It is the way others see us and also provides indication of our physical appearance. The ruler of the Ascendant and the aspects (connections to other planets in your birth chart) further delineate and define your physical appearance.

The Descendant, or 7th house cusp, its ruler ,and the aspects it makes in the chart, symbolises the type of partner you are attracted to or who you may attract into your life. The 7th house is the house of all partnerships including marriage and legal contracts yet also considered the house of open enemies or the Defendant in a law suit.

Taurus’♉ ruling planet is feminineVenus. If you have a Taurus♉ Ascendant, you appear practical, sensual, and hardy and maintain a reliable and steadfast disposition. You prefer kissing and caressing, especially in the neck and throat area. Because you are a fixed, earth sign, it would be difficult to change your mind on any subject or idea. Yet once you set your sights on some one or something, your focus is unwavering! You desire loyalty and passion in your relationships. Jealousy and possessiveness are a tendency as well as a propensity for conceit and overindulgence.

With Mars/Pluto ruled Scorpio on the descendant, you seek a sexy, intense, sensual and passionate partner. Loyalty is a must. A superficial relationship would hold no appeal for this placement.

☆♥*♥☆Scorpio/Taurus Relationships☆♥*♥☆

by Lorraine Valente

The Scorpio/Taurus Ascendant/Descendant
Relationship Axis (1st house/7th house)

Hello Cosmic Cohorts!

So many people inquisitively want to know whether or not they are astrologically compatible with a new boyfriend, girlfriend or partner. Many clients inquire about what they feel is a past life or karmic relationship. Knowing your partners 7th house cusp (the relationship house) and the ruler of that house indicates the type of partner you may attract or are attracted to and the method of relating within a relationship.

The Ascendant, or Rising sign, is the sign rising on the horizon at the time of birth. This is the face we show the world, our “mask” for which our Sun hides behind. This is our outer personality, temperament and disposition as well as how we experienced our early home environment. It's the way others see us and also gives a hint of our physical appearance. The ruler of the Ascendant and the aspects (connections to other planets in your birth chart) further delineate and define your physical appearance. Most often Scorpio Rsing folks sharp or pointed features and penetrating, hypnotic eyes.

The Descendant, or 7th house cusp, its ruler and the aspects it makes in your birth chart, is symbolic of the type of partner you are attracted to. The 7th house is the house of all partnerships including marriage and legal contracts yet also considered the house of open enemies or the Defendant in a law suit.

Scorpio has a dual planetary rulership and shares a dynamic astrological symbolism. The ancient planetary ruler for Scorpio is assertive, warrior Mars, while the modern planetary ruler is transformative and regenerative Pluto. Pluto contacts are compelling, to say the least. Pluto ruled Scorpio is intense, private, penetrating and sexually alluring. If your Ascendant is in the sign of Scorpio, you're generally private, discreet, intuitively and automatically interpret nuances. The intensity and directness of the eyes or gaze are unrivalled. Scorpio Rising individuals could challenge anyone in a staring contest and not blink an eye!

With Venus ruled Taurus on the descendant you seek an affable, loving, charming, graceful and attractive partner. Attraction to a partner with those qualities who is artistic, creative, musical, sociable, loving, stable, sensitive, “earthy”, practical and sensual is likely. A male with Scorpio Rising would seek a feminine, deeply sensual and monogamous partner who is both reliable and somewhat predictable. A Scorpio Rising woman, although she seeks the same qualities as the male, the partner she may be attracted to could be more sensitive, in touch with their “yin” nature or even “prettier” than other males. The person would have strong personality, trustworthy, sensitive, dependable, sensual and hard working.

If you have a Scorpio Ascendant/Rising, knowing your partners Venus placement and the aspects it makes, will reveal much about how he/she will treat you in your relationship and how they will act in that relationship with you! Venus is what we value and are attracted to. In a man’s chart, the qualities of his Venus sign reveals the type of partner he's attracted to and values, while Mars demonstrates how he pursues who he's attracted to, and how he will “sex” his partner (along with other aspects). Oooo, isn't that an exciting bit of information to know :-)  In a female chart, Mars is symbolic of her ideal masculine image, and what turns her on while her Venus placement reveals the qualities of the partner she's attracted to and values.

It's also possible for a Scorpio Ascendant to attract a partner who has Venus prominent in their chart. A prominent Venus would be in aspect to the Sun, Moon, Mars, or elevated in conjunction to the MC or conjunct or ruling their Ascendant (Libra/Taurus) or Descendant (Libra/Taurus) or Sun sign (Taurus/Libra).

Knowing the date, time and place of birth is important in making the determination of the Ascendant or Rising sign, the sign rising on the horizon at the time of birth. This cusp sets up all the other house cusps/divisions of the houses or areas of life.  If you'd like to share your own Scorpio relationship stories, post a response.

☆♥*♥☆Judgment XX ~Pluto☆♥*♥☆

by Lorraine Valente

Tarot Card # 20 XX~ Judgment~Symbolic of Pluto

The symbol of Judgment may appear in a reading during a time of soul testing. You may need to adjust to new circumstances based upon a changed awareness. In the Rider-Waite version, Angel Gabriel sounds a trumpet as he creates air. Air is equivalent to breath. There are seven lines or tones radiating from his trumpet = sounds of do re mi fa sol la ti do. The people below, man, child and woman raise their arms up to the Angel as their spirits unfold. Their gray bodies are symbolic of wisdom.

Judgment may symbolize something lying dormant within awaiting emergence into consciousness. Some unconscious truth is being awakened and brought to conscious awareness. Perhaps there was a lack of clarity yet now easily see the pathway to truth. Judgment usually speaks of a time of reckoning, bringing to light that which was hidden. Freedom from past guilt and the inspiration to move ahead is possible now. Darker aspects of the personality may have been repressed or stuffed down inside, because of fear of re-experiencing a past trauma. Perhaps this is a time to judge not only your own motives, but those of the person in question in your reading.

When Judgment appears in a spread, you are being asked if your judgments of others are restricting your growth and your ability to create lasting relationships. The need to transform dysfunctional beliefs elevate you to a higher spiritual vibration.

Keywords: Renewal, awakening, inner voice, inspiration, spiritual awareness, and a desire to improve. Reversed: A closed mind, mistakes from following the wrong advice, having a limited viewpoint, unconsciously motivated behaviors.

☆♥*♥ Freeze Up Moon~Snake~Scorpio ☆♥*♥☆

by Lorraine Valente

In Native American Astrology, those born from October 23rd- November 22nd are born under the Freeze Up Moon and their animal totem is the Snake. Their gemstone Malachite is thought to have spiritual powers and increases receptivity to all forms of subtle energy including psychic energy. Malachite stone derives its name from the Greek word "mallow" meaning, a green herb. Historically, Malachite was crushed and used in preparing green paints in the early civilizations. It was worn as jewelry by ancient Egyptians around 4000 BC thinking that it could protect the wearer from black magic and sorcery. Even in ancient Greece the amulets were made from malachite stone beads were worn by children.

Malachite
Snake is associated with the color orange and their mineral is copper. Copper is attributed with many special powers. For years, people who suffer from arthritis would wear copper bracelets or anklets to ease stiffening of the joints. Copper also conducts electricity better than most other minerals and is often utilized in electrical wiring. It also conducts heat more uniformly over a variety of surfaces and is why this coating can be seen underneath pots and pans.

Snake people possess the unique ability to aid in others growth. These reptiles are infinitely adaptable to their environment and are highly sexual beings.  They're also acutely sensitive to touch and vibrations, partly because they are cold-blooded and use their environment for warmth. Because snakes sport a prickly outer skin, people tend to not want to become too close.  Once others realize the outer skin is only self-protection for their inner sensitivity, dothey develop a closer relationship with Snake.

~I Want Your Sex~George Michael

Pluto was discovered in 1930. This was a period of time when the atom bomb, made from Plutonium, was being developed. The United States was in the midst of a Depression and Psychoanalysis and Depth Psychology were emerging. Pluto is symbolic of psychoanalysis. The function of Pluto is to transform, liberate and motivate. Sigmund Freud’s theories on sexuality (Scorpio and 8th house) and Carl Jung’s theories of transformation (Pluto) were formulated. Hypnosis, probing the hidden recesses of our mind is also related to Pluto. Both Freud and Jung have Pluto prominent in their birth chart. Additionally, Pluto was assigned to rule the sign of Scorpio since both the planet and its sign are related to the underworld. (Underneath and hidden from view)

Pluto is the planet of power, obsessions, transformation, the depths of the unknown, what’s underneath, sexuality and instincts necessary for survival. Pluto/Scorpio is nothing if not intensely passionate and penetrating. The superficial holds absolutely no appeal for those born under the sign of Scorpio…these guys are “deep” and penetrating…and just try to pull one over on them and you will have an enemy for life. Frankly, you may not know this about them because they have the ability to conceal and cloak themselves in (self protective) secrecy quite well. The planet Pluto ruling the sign of Scorpio is all about redefining and transforming the mundane and outmoded.

Kissing by Alex Grey
Scorpios possess many talents and vocational interests, i.e.: research, psychology, sex therapists, hypnotherapy, regression therapy, funeral directors, counseling, metaphysics, analysis, detective work, surgery, The Mafia, medicine and jobs where scrutiny of data is necessary. Scorpio resides in the 8th house of the natural zodiac and so also rules our sexuality and sexual and reproductive organs. Most Scorpios exude a fetching sexuality and are magnetically attractive to others. They tends towards a reputation for being the sexiest sign in the zodiac yet the most intense (and jealous)!! The French have a term for orgasm called “la petit mort” meaning, “a little death”. Scorpio desires to be swept away through erotic transcendence. This little death experienced through orgasm is both a desire and fear. In Sanskrit, Nirvana means “annihilation” or to be “blown away”. And what else about Scorpio and sex??…Tantric practices, all consuming, mystical, spiritual, sacred sexuality!!…can you say Kama Sutra??? :-)

When Pluto transits your chart or if Pluto makes  significant aspects, you may experience a sense of loss during your lifetime. Sometimes something of value is taken away or are forced to make a decision to give up something or someone we thought we couldn't live without. Sometimes these experiences or decisions “feel” like a death. Pluto experiences force us to go down as far as we can and hit “bottom”. Events, beliefs and people that once provided safety and security may vanish under a transit of Pluto. Most often these “things” aren’t material in nature. They are usually beliefs and attitudes about ourselves and life, perhaps how we experience others or one person in particular. Because Pluto is slow moving and has its retrograde (backward motion) phases, it is possible for him to pass over a point in the chart 3 times before he has completed his transformative process. When Pluto transits are felt, very often you may feel as if you are descending into unknown territory, and more than likely, you are. It doesn’t feel safe yet you know on some instinctual level that you need to get there. In mythology, the decent into the underworld is classically the feminine archetype. Ariel Guttman and Kenneth Johnson’s Mythic Astrology refer to this descent as follows: “It represents the acquisition of serpent wisdom, which is defined as feminine wisdom. Medusa had serpents in her hair and Pluto rules Scorpio, the sign traditionally associated with the serpent. Thus the process of initiation through pain, grief, darkness and emotional resurrection is an essentially feminine process. Men don’t do well with this particular journey”. Pluto experiences and transits are for the growth of the soul and are transformational in nature.

☆♥*♥☆ October's Cosmic Events ☆♥*♥☆

by Lorraine Valente

Hi Stargazers...

Peek~a~boo~!

Another dynamic month is upon us with the Sun and Mercury in Venus-ruled Libra, while both relationship planets, Mars and Venus share intensity in the sign of Scorpio.  These two can read each other's mind, kinda sorta.  It's intense, truth-seeking, passionate and determined. However, Venus is turning retrograde (rx) early October 8th, here on the East coast, a day before the New Libra Moon. Relationships and friendships are up for review.  Old lovers may return with something to share. This can be a challenging time for relationships because we want the truth, we need to talk it out, smoothe it out yet words can be emotionally charged.  Whatever it means to you, speak your truth.  Mean what you say.  It's okay to speak your mind clearly.  Trust the process and always follow your heart.

Here's the planetary rundown:

October 3: Mercury -----> Libra
October 7: New Moon 14+ degeres Libra
October 8: Venus turns rx 13 degrees+ Scorpio through November 18th at 27 degrees Libra
October 10: World Day of Interconnectedness~Peace to Earth Mother and all People and Animals
October 11: Columbus Day observed in the United States
October 20: Mercury -----> Scorpio, Mars trines Jupiter in pm
October 22: Full Moon 29+ degrees Aries
October 23: Sun ----> Scorpio
October 28: Mars ----> Sagittarius, Sun conjuncts Venus pm
October 31:  Happy Halloween, Samhain, Wiccan New Year

3 days before the New Moon on October 7th is the balsamic phase. This phase is also called the Wishing Moon..............

Make a Wish, Blow a Kiss to the Universe~!

Have a wonderful week~! If you want to learn more about this topic and others, schedule a phone, or e-mail consultation at Fuchsiastars@aol.com. I'm also available via Skype and Facebook.

☆♥*♥☆ Relationship Needs in the Birth Chart ☆♥*♥☆

by Lorraine Valente

Relationship Needs in the Birth Chart~Other Oriented versus Self Oriented

The astrological chart is designed like a pizza, sliced into 12 cut pieces. If we cut the pie/chart in the center from left (East) to right (West) (the reverse directions from Earth) the Ascendant/Descendant relationship axis is formed. The East is your personal needs and the West would be the needs of the relationship or partner. When the chart is divided from bottom, North, center (IC) to the top, South, center (MC) the 4th house/10th house axis of home versus work and private versus public needs is formed. Divisions of the chart hemispheres indicated above determines whether you are more “relationship” oriented or more “Self” oriented. Planets located in the Western portion of the chart are relationship and ”Other” oriented. These are the natural house signs of Cancer, Leo, Virgo, Libra, Scorpio and Sagittarius. Planets located in the Eastern hemisphere of the chart are more “Self” oriented. These natural house signs are (Capricorn, Aquarius, Pisces, Aries, Taurus and Gemini). Ideally, it's best to have a balance of planets in both hemispheres as this indicates a healthy approach to relating and the natural ability to meet your own needs in love, relationships and personal growth, and also meeting your partners desires for the same.

When a majority of planets reside in the Western hemisphere, this person might not have enough self confidence to take a stand in a relationship. Co-dependency may exist when the needs of the partner take precedence over the need to take care of self, even when it may be inappropriate to care for the other. This is also called enabling, doing for another that they can do for themselves.

An individual having a majority of planets in the Western hemisphere may feel more insecure or lack confidence in relating, always considering the other first, again, even when it is detrimental to do so. This person may become overly involved in the lives of others leaving no room left for themselves. A person could also be the one that everyone asks favors of, is taken advantage of, and who doesn’t know how to say “no” because of the need to feel needed or for ego validation.  This individual needs to learn to set healthy boundaries in all relationships.

However, if those planets are mostly in the masculine planets of fire and air, this can produce extreme impatience when the personal needs are thwarted or not immediately gratified. This person could be demanding, selfish or unrealistic about what to expect from others. For instance, a fire/air man may be extremely charming and suave yet controlling, demanding, and judgmental. He may have difficulty expressing anger in a healthy way, negatively impacting romantic relationships.

A preponderance of fixed signs in a chart, 3 or more major planets, Taurus, Leo, Scorpio and Aquarius lends to imbalance when there is an inability to change and only want things their way. A balanced fixed chart has the ability to follow through, is open-mined and dependable and not easily influenced by negative influences of others. Mutable folks, Gemini, Virgo, Sagittarius and Pisces are so indecisive they may constantly change plans or commitments.  Cardinal folks, Aries, Cancer, Libra, and Capricorn possess a desire and enthusiasm to make things happen, achieve, and accomplish a lot in a short amount of time. Negatively, they may start too many projects and not complete them all.

Having the majority of planets in the Eastern hemisphere would show a person who is overly independent. These people are so interested in having their own needs and desires met they may not even be aware that their partners desires are not being met by them. It is so important to be able to tell the person we love and are involved with how we feel about them and know they are genuinely concerned about us. When there are hemisphere imbalances between a two people, this may be a source of conflict.

Eastern hemisphere people rarely turn to others for help. There is a level of pride in their independence. It can be very difficult to achieve true emotional intimacy with a person who has an overwhelming number of planets in the East.

Now, if we return to the Ascendant/Descendant axis and look at all the planets above this axis, the horizon, these planets are public.  Planets below this axis are private. Planets above the horizon have a need to express and share their ideas, thoughts, and philosophies publicly; they are more visible.  Planets below the horizon are less inclined to want center stage and are "introverted" or more reserved requiring privacy while planets above the horizon are "extroverted" desiring expression out into the World.

A high level of emotional maturity can overcome and mitigate challenging natal energies. The ability to "confront" and express both positive and negative emotions in a health manner fosters intimacy and connectedness.  In fact, a lack of confrontation actually destroys relationships because problems that aren't discussed are denied and pushed under the surface, fester, then undermine the connection.  Knowing which hemisphere your partner’s planets are located illuminates characteristic relating behaviors and aids in personal growth.
